Here`s a chance to lea rn from the stories of ºÚÁÏÉç alumni who have graduated with Arts degrees and gone on to successful careers in a wide variety of fields. Throughout the winter semester\, the Faculty of Arts’ University Advancement\, and  C areer Planning Service will be collaborating on the popular speaker series \, It stARTS with ARTS. Each session will feature a ºÚÁÏÉç Arts graduate d iscussing their career path\, industry\, and what they've learned along th e way. Sessions are hosted in the CaPS Library\, providing an intimate siz e so that participants can ask questions and gain relevant insights into p otential career paths.\n\n\nMarch 28 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm - Brown 2200\n Alex Herschlag\, BA\n Emmy Award-Winning Writer/Producer\n  \n\nAlex Herschlag is an American television writer and producer.  He is best known for his wor k on the sitcom Will & Grace for which he won a Primetime Emmy Award in 20 00\, as a part of the producing and writing team.  He was nominated five m ore times\, until he left the series after the seventh season.  Herschlag was born in The Bronx\, New York and grew up in Spring Valley\, New York.  He moved to Montreal\, Quebec to attend ºÚÁÏÉç where he majore d in Psychology.  He began performing stand-up comedy in Montreal and cont inued doing so when he moved to San Francisco after graduating college.  W hile living in San Francisco\, he began performing and writing comedy mate rial for various sketch comedy groups.  He then moved to Los Angeles\, whe re he began writing and performing with a comedy group featuring a then un known Molly Shannon.  Soon afterwards\, Herschlag began writing material f or various stand-up comedians.  He met Ellen DeGeneres\, through this expe rience\, who hired him as a producer and writer on her self-titled 1990s s itcom from 1995-1997.  Herschlag's other television credits include\, Arre sted Development\, Andy Baker\, P.I.\, Sit Down\, Shut Up\, Modern Family\ , Mike and Molly\, Hot in Cleveland\, and I'm Dying Up Here.  He currently is a consulting producer on Man With A Plan.  He has also been credited a s a writer for the Primetime Emmys\, The Grammy Awards and the Academy Awa rds.\n\n\nLearning Outcomes\n\nBy attending these sessions\, students will be able to:\n\n1) Understand how an Arts degree equips them with career-r elated skills\n\n2) Identify potential industries and roles for further ex ploration\n\n3) Understand the connection between transferable skills and employability\n\n \n\nRSVP required through myFuture.  From your homepage\ , click on the events tab followed by  workshop and keyword search ISWA.\n DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20170315 DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20170328 LOCATION:2200\, Brown Student Services\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 0G3\, 360 0 rue McTavish SUMMARY:It stARTS with Arts (ISWA) Speaker Series URL:/caps/channels/event/it-starts-arts-iswa-speaker-s eries-266591 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
