DESCRIPTION:In this series of workshops\, the Graduate Diploma in Legal Tra
 nslation at şÚÁĎÉç invites you to discover different dimensions
  of professions at the crossroad of law and languages. We offer both intro
 ductory workshops to key professions\, such as legal translation and court
  interpreting\, as well as workshops on highly specialized issues that wil
 l better meet the needs of experienced jurilinguists. All workshops are fr
 ee and open to all.\n\nIn workshop 1\, the presenter will explore how bili
 ngual legal language professionals from a variety of educational backgroun
 ds and experience pathways can enhance their research skills and make word
  choices confidently.\n\nAt the end of this workshop\, participants will b
 e able to:\n\n\n	Visualize the Canadian legal system as a branching structu
 re that helps guide context-sensitive translation decisions\n	Distinguish b
 etween different types of legal reference tools and evaluate their suitabi
 lity based on the context of the source text\n	Apply a vocabulary for talki
 ng about legal translation challenges\, which can support collaboration\, 
 mentorship\, or training roles\n\n\nThis initiative is supported by Justic

 eau\n\n	\n		Francie Gow\, traductrice du français à l’anglais basée à Montréa
 l\, travaille pour le Bureau de la traduction du gouvernement canadien dep
 uis 2002. Elle est titulaire d’une maîtrise en traduction de l’Université 
 d’Ottawa (2003) et d’un BCL/LLB de l’UniversitĂ© şÚÁĎÉç (2008). Son mĂ©moire
  de maîtrise sur l’évaluation des mémoires de traduction lui a valu le Bes
 t Thesis Award du Localization Research Centre en 2003. Pendant ses Ă©tudes
  Ă  şÚÁĎÉç\, elle a publiĂ© un article sur la protection du contenu des mĂ©mo
 ires de traduction par le droit d’auteur dans le Canadian Journal of Law a
 nd Technology. Depuis 2020\, elle a contribué à mettre au point et à offri
 r de la formation en traduction juridique au Bureau de la traduction en pl
 us de son travail de base en traduction et en révision. Elle s’intéresse a
 ctuellement à cibler les habiletés spécifiques permettant à des traducteur
 .trice.s titulaires ou non de diplômes en droit d’exceller en traduction j
 uridique\, en particulier la capacité à déterminer les bons outils de réfé
 rence en contexte (lois bilingues\, causes\, contrats et traités) et à acc
 Ă©der Ă  ces outils.\n	\n\n
