Using Austrian data we show that in more concentrated labor ma rkets\, workers are more likely to return to past employers. In our model\ , the possibility of these re-encounters endows firms with size-based mark et power since outside options are truly outside the firm: firms do not co mpete with their own vacancies. Hence\, a worker’s outside option is worse when bargaining with a larger firm\, and wages depend on market structure . The quantified model suggests that such size-based market power could su bstantially reduce wages.\n DTSTART:20210217T190000Z DTEND:20210217T200000Z SUMMARY:Isaac Sorkin (Stanford)\, 'Granular Search\, Market Structure\, and Wages” URL:/economics/channels/event/isaac-sorkin-stanford-gr anular-search-market-structure-and-wages-328551 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
