Since the rel ease of Canada’s Low-Risk Alcohol Drinking Guidelines in 2011\, substantia l new research on the association between alcohol use and physical\, menta l and social harms has been done. Evidence shows that consuming alcohol in creases the risk of such harms\, including the risk of seven types of canc er\, short-term disability and injury\, and heart disease and stroke. He is a columnist with the Montreal Gazette\, is featured on the Sunday Morning House Call on CJAD radio\, and has a regular TV segment wi th CTV Montreal and CBC Morning Live. He is also a blogger for the medical website Medscape and he co-hosts the award-winning podcast “The Body of E vidence.” He spends most of his time doing things that he doesn’t get paid for\, like doing research\, teaching\, and podcasting. Occasionally\, he finds time to practice as a cardiologist so he can pay his rent. He realiz es that half of his research findings will be disproved in five years: he just doesn’t know which half.
