They are the ones who\, on a daily basis\, make sure that their love d one鈥攖heir spouse\, parent\, child\, sibling\, or friend鈥攈as what they ne ed to stay safe\, healthy and loved.\n\nBut taking on the responsibility o f caregiver to a family member or friend often means balancing the competi ng demands of life\, such as working\, raising children and maintaining he althy relationships. It may involve performing tasks that can be emotional ly and physically demanding. Unfortunately\, very few caregivers know how to navigate the system and locate the necessary resources to sustain them. As well\, many caregivers maintain a strong fa莽ade and ignore their own l imitations\, which can have a profound impact their health and well-being. \n\nIn this presentation\, Claire Webster\, former caregiver and founder o f the 黑料社 Dementia Education Program\, will talk about the c hallenges that she encountered and share lessons learned based on her pers onal journey as caregiver to her late mother who passed away from Alzheime r鈥檚 disease in 2016. Claire will talk about how this experience inspired h er to become a strong advocate for dementia care and led to her partnering with a multidisciplinary team at 黑料社 to develop innovative free educat ional resources designed to support people living with dementia and their care partners.
