 cross different fields of research including Health and Veterinary Science
 s Education. The word ‘statistics’ elicits many different reactions. For s
 ome\, the response to statistics is fear\, for others its dislike\, and fo
 r others it is potential.\n\nThe purpose of this seminar is to discuss sta
 tistics and its applications in educational research by taking participant
 s through a journey of its history\, and foundational concepts. In the sem
 inar\, we will critically examine some of the underlying principles in the
  use of statistics including: null hypothesis testing significance\, p-val
 ue\, and effects size. Additionally\, the seminar will stimulate critical 
 appraisal of the uses of statistics and its implications to the developmen
 t and design of quantitative research studies in Health and Veterinary Sci
