Arora is a Postdoc toral Fellow in the Office of Education Scholarship in the Department of F amily and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto. In this positio n\, he is leading the mixed methods evaluation of a Canada-wide continuing professional development program\, which aims to advance the skills of pr acticing clinicians in communicating with seriously ill patients and their families. Prior to this work\, Dr. Arora completed a PhD in Family Medici ne and Primary Care at 黑料社\, where he held a Vanier Canada G raduate Scholarship awarded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. Additionally\, he completed a MSc in Family Medicine specializing in Medi cal Education from 黑料社. While at 黑料社\, Dr. Arora led the design and preliminary validation for the Blended Learning Usability Evalu ation 鈥 Questionnaire (BLUE-Q)\, an innovative tool which seeks to systema tize program evaluation across health sciences education.\n\nThe Blended L earning Usability Evaluation Questionnaire (BLUE-Q) 鈥 Demonstrating its ut ility through a microlearning activity on 鈥渕icroaggressions鈥漒n\nAbstract \n\nBackground: Blended learning programs (BLPs) are educational intervent ions that combine synchronous and asynchronous learning methods. BLPs are becoming increasingly popular across the field of health sciences educatio n (HSE). However\, evaluations of BLPs remain few and disparate\, particul arly as HSE scholars have yet to widely adopt the use of standardized conc epts and instruments in this regard. Interestingly\, usability has been an instrumental construct in the development\, evaluation\, and evolution of e-learning programs. Although usability is commonly understood as the eas e with which something is utilized\, this conceptualization undermines the complexity and depth of this construct. Usability more accurately refers to the effectiveness\, efficiency\, satisfaction\, accessibility\, organiz ation\, and user experience one has when engaging with a product and/or se rvice. Scholars have proposed that usability evaluation must take place to optimize the content of BLPs\, and their synchronous and asynchronous ele ments within HSE programming. As such\, we conducted a three-phase researc h program including a scoping review\, qualitative investigation with inte rnational experts\, and a Bayesian validation study to develop and initial ly validate the Blended Learning Usability Evaluation 鈥 Questionnaire (BLU E-Q). In this workshop\, we seek to share our experience in developing and validating the BLUE-Q and help participants learn how to use this innovat ive tool for BLP evaluations in their contexts.\n\nStructure of Workshop: The workshop will begin with an engaging microlearning activity\, delivere d in a blended learning format\, focusing on the topic of 鈥榤icroaggression s.鈥 Following this\, participants will have an opportunity to evaluate the usability of the microlearning activity through the BLUE-Q. Then\, we wil l discuss why and how the BLUE-Q came to light\, explore the Bayesian vali dation process we took\, and converse on the opportunities the BLUE-Q enab les vis-脿-vis systematizing program evaluation across the HSE field.\n\nIn tended Outcomes: Alongside an opportunity to engage in an interactive lear ning program on microaggressions\, participants will gain the ability to u tilize the BLUE-Q for BLP evaluation. Participants will also learn about t he Bayesian validation process which enables an efficient\, yet rigorous\, approach to adapting questionnaires for various contexts and populations. \n\nAuthors and Affiliations\n\nDr. Anish Kumar Arora1 (anish.arora [at] m ail.mcgill.ca)\n Dr. Tamara Carver3 (tamara.carver [at] mcgill.ca)\n Dr. Tib or Schuster2 (tibor.schuster [at] mcgill.ca)\n Dr. Catherine Jarvis2 (cathe rine.jarvis [at] mcgill.ca)\n Dr. Michelle Elizov4 (michelle.elizov [at] mc gill.ca)\n Dr. Charo Rodriguez2\,3 (charo.rodriguez [at] mcgill.ca)\n\n\n Of fice of Education Scholarship\, Department of Family and Community Medicin e\, Temerty Faculty of Medicine\, University of Toronto\n Department of Fam ily Medicine\, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences\, 黑料社 \, Montreal\, Qu茅bec\, Canada\n Institute of Health Sciences Education\, Fa culty of Medicine and Health Sciences\, 黑料社\, Montreal\, Qu茅 bec\, Canada\n Faculty Development Office\, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences\, 黑料社\, Montreal\, Qu茅bec\, Canada\n\n DTSTART:20240606T130000Z DTEND:20240606T150000Z SUMMARY:IHSE Meeting URL:/ihse/channels/event/ihse-meeting-348899 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
