 Restoring Biodiversity on the Macdonald Campus\n\nFounder's Day - February
  9\, 2023\n\nHow do we act locally to safeguard nature\, halt and reverse 
 biodiversity loss\, and put nature on a path to recovery by 2050?\n\nThe 1
 5th Conference of the Parties (COP15) to the United Nations Convention on 
 Biological Diversity (CBD) was held in Montréal\, Quebec\, the seat of the
  UN CBD Secretariat\, in December 2022. At that meeting\, governments from
  around the world agreed to the Kunming-Montréal Global Biodiversity Frame
 work\, a historic global framework to safeguard nature and halt and revers
 e biodiversity loss\, putting nature on a path to recovery by 2050. As is 
 the case for all global environmental issues\, it is imperative that we th
 ink globally and act locally.\n\nMacdonald Campus is the largest private l
 and holding on the island of Montreal and one of the island’s largest and 
 most biodiverse green spaces. Macdonald Campus is both a biodiversity hots
 pot and a national centre of biodiversity research\, teaching\, and monito
 ring. But we need to do more to protect and support the biodiversity livin
 g on and around our campus.\n\nMacdonald Campus 2023 Founder’s Day celebra
 tions will focus on “service in any sphere in which one finds life” with a
  focus on campus biodiversity\, highlighting current and future Macdonald 
 Campus initiatives that document\, protect\, and enhance campus biodiversi
 ty. The event will showcase what Macdonald Campus students and staff are d
 oing to make our campus a better and more biodiverse place. The event will
  also encourage us to act locally\, as a campus and as a community\, in su
 pport of the Kunming-Montréal Global Biodiversity Framework commitments to
  safeguard nature\, halt and reverse biodiversity loss\, and put nature on
