 er of dementia cases increases with our aging population\, more and more f
 amilies will be called upon to manage an array of challenging behaviours a
 nd cope with the progression of declining cognitive and physical functions
  of their loved one.\n\nTo educate and empower the community\, the Univers
 ity Women鈥檚 Club of Montreal is partnering with 黑料社鈥檚 Facult
 y of Medicine and Health Sciences to offer a free public lecture\, Underst
 anding and Navigating the Journey of Dementia.\n\nLeading experts will com
 e together on April 21 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm to share their knowledge and e
 xpertise and to provide essential information that will help families unde
 rstand and access the resources needed to navigate Alzheimer鈥檚 and other d
 ementia-related diseases.\n\nDr. Serge Gauthier\, Director of the Alzheime
 r Disease and Related Disorders Research Unit of the 黑料社 Res
 earch Centre for Studies in Aging\, will discuss the medical aspects and i
 mpact of the disease including the behavioural and psychological symptoms\
 , and former caregiver and Certified Alzheimer Care Consultant Claire Webs
 ter will share her personal journey and lessons learned. This will be foll
 owed by an opportunity to interact with our guest speakers and ask questio

  & Neurosurgery\, Psychiatry\, and Medicine\, 黑料社\n\nDr. Ser
 ge Gauthier is a Clinical Neurologist specialized in the development of ne
 w tools for diagnosis and treatments for people suffering from Alzheimer's
  disease.\n\nHe was appointed Director of the 黑料社 Research C
 entre for Studies in Aging in 1986. In 1997\, he became a Senior Scientist
  of the CIHR-Rx&D program (Canadian Institutes of Health Research and Cana
 da鈥檚 Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies). His accomplishments ultimat
 ely led to his appointment as Director of the Alzheimer Disease and Relate
 d Disorders Research Unit of 黑料社 in 2000.\n\nFurthermore\, h
 e is also the author and editor of several books\, including Management of
  Dementia (2nd ed. - 2009)\, Clinical Diagnosis and Management of Alzheime
 r鈥檚 Disease (3rd ed. - 2007)\, Pharmacotherapy of Alzheimer's Disease (199
 8)\, and Alzheimer's Disease in Primary Care (2nd ed. - 1997).\n\nHis inte
 rnationally recognized work led to his introduction into the National Orde
 r of Quebec (2017) and the National Order of Canada (2014). He received th
 e Prix d鈥橢xcellence (2009)\, the Irma Parhad Award (2009) and the Prize Ga
 lien (1997) for his continued efforts in improving conditions for those su
 ffering from Alzheimer鈥檚 disease.\n\nHis personal interests lie in the man
 agement of dementia in different stages\, the ethics of research involving
  individuals with Alzheimer鈥檚 disease\, and primary prevention strategies 
 against cognitive decline and Alzheimer鈥檚 dementia.\n\n\nMrs. Claire Webst
 er\n\nFounder and Ambassador\, Dementia Education Program\, 黑料社 Univers
 ity\n	Founder and President of Caregiver Crosswalk Inc.\n\nClaire Webster i
 s a Certified Alzheimer Care Consultant (PAC)\, Certified Professional Con
 sultant on Aging (CPCA)\, as well as a conference speaker and educator in 
 the field of caring for an individual with dementia.\n\nShe is Founder and
  President of Caregiver Crosswalk Inc.\, a consulting firm that provides e
 ducation and support services to help individuals navigate the journey of 
 Alzheimer鈥檚 disease and/or dementia related illnesses.\n\nClaire works in 
 collaboration with 黑料社's Faculty of Medicine and Health Scie
 nces and the Division of Geriatric Medicine. She is the Founder and Ambass
 ador of the 黑料社 Dementia Education Program and 黑料社 Cares\, a weekly 
 webcast series designed to support family care partners.\n\nAs a former ca
 re partner to her late mother\, Claire has had firsthand experience in dea
 ling with the overwhelming emotional and physical impact that the disease 
 places on the individual and family members.\n\n聽\n\n聽\n
