But why should cloud heights be of any interest to studies of gl obal climate or climate change?\n\nExplanations of the greenhouse effect o n surface temperature often have a surface perspective and focus on total longwave opacity (which is not dependent on cloud height). If we invert th e conventional approach to adopt a tropospheric perspective\, we can direc tly answer the cloud height question. Perhaps surprisingly\, we also disco ver that water vapour is not as powerful a greenhouse gas as we might have expected.\n\n \n\nMonday July 08/ 3: 30 PM/ Burnside Hall/ Room 934\n DTSTART:20190708T193000Z DTEND:20190708T210000Z LOCATION:Room 934 SUMMARY:The tropopause perspective in climate modelling: why cloud heights really matter URL:/meteo/channels/event/tropopause-perspective-clima te-modelling-why-cloud-heights-really-matter-297807 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
