A growing body of literature is shedd ing light on the underlying neural processes\, but detailed knowledge of n etwork reorganization across the epilepsy spectrum remains sparse. In this talk\, I will present findings of MRI studies we conducted to investigate the neural correlates of cognitive impairment in epilepsy\, and to captur e commonalities and differences between epilepsy types. First\, I will dis cuss work focusing on the heritability of cognitive reorganization pattern s in idiopathic generalized epilepsy. Second\, I will present work that ch aracterized the disorganization of language and working memory systems in frontal and temporal lobe epilepsy using a combination of regional\, netwo rk and functional-gradient based analyses. I will then discuss dynamic fun ctional connectivity work that identifies shared and unique network signat ures in the aforementioned epilepsy types\, and briefly outline an attempt towards clinical translation of multi-scale functional imaging findings. \n\nBio:  Dr. Lorenzo Caciagli\, MD\, PhD\, is a postdoctoral researcher a t the Department of Bioengineering\, University of Pennsylvania (Penn)\, P hiladelphia\, and Honorary Clinical Fellow\, UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology\, London\, UK. He received an MD summa cum laude from the Unive rsity of Pisa and Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies\, and a PhD in Clin ical Neuroscience at UCL in 2019\, which he combined with clinical activit ies as a neurology resident. He has expertise in neuropsychology\, structu ral and functional MRI\, is faculty on British and International Epilepsy Neuroimaging Courses\, and has been serving as member of the ILAE Neuroima ging Task Force since 2020.\n\n\nThe Feindel Virtual Brain and Mind (VBM) Seminar Series will advance the vision of Dr. William Feindel (1918–2014)\ , Former Director of the Neuro (1972–1984)\, to constantly bridge the clin ical and research realms. The talks will highlight the latest advances and discoveries in neuropsychology\, cognitive neuroscience\, and neuroimagin g.\n\nSpeakers will include scientists from across The Neuro\, as well as colleagues and collaborators locally and from around the world. The series is intended to provide a virtual forum for scientists and trainees to con tinue to foster interdisciplinary exchanges on the mechanisms\, diagnosis and treatment of brain and cognitive disorders.\n\n\nTo watch via Vimeo\, click here.\n DTSTART:20220928T200000Z DTEND:20220928T210000Z LOCATION:De Grandpre Communications Center\, Montreal Neurological Institut e\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 2B4\, 3801 rue University SUMMARY:Feindel Virtual Brain and Mind Lecture Series: Epilepsy and cogniti on: an MRI perspective URL:/neuro/channels/event/feindel-virtual-brain-and-mi nd-lecture-series-epilepsy-and-cognition-mri-perspective-341380 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
