DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the Congress  I am pleased to invite you to particip
 ate in the 2013 IASR World Congress on Suicide\, which will be held in bea
 utiful Montreal from June 10 to 13.  Suicide has a terrible toll on most\,
  if not all\, societies around the world. Although we have made significan
 t progress over the last decades in our understanding of risk factors for 
 suicide\, as well as in intervention and prevention strategies\, much has 
 yet to be learned and remains to be done.  The 2013 IASR World Congress is
  the first of its kind. It is the first meeting of the International Acade
 my for Suicide Research (IASR)\, organized by the Quebec Suicide Research 
 Network (RQRS)\, in partnership with the American Foundation for Suicide P
 revention (AFSP)\, and in collaboration with the Association québécoise de
  prévention du suicide (AQPS)\, the Canadian Association for Suicide Preve
 ntion (CASP) and the Fédération Trauma Suicide Liaison Urgence (TSLU). Thi
 s meeting will provide an inspiring forum for high level discussions on su
 icide research\, suicide prevention and intervention.  The theme of the co
 ngress is Suicide: From research to practice. We are planning a number of 
 timely and stimulating plenary sessions to discuss contemporary issues on 
 suicide research\, avenues for suicide prevention and innovative ways to i
 ntervene on suicidal behavior. Other sessions will offer unique opportunit
 ies for engaged dialogue between researchers and clinicians\, stakeholders
  and decision-makers\, promoting both translation of research findings to 
 practice\, as well as informing research direction by clinical and prevent
 ion needs.  I am excited by the high-caliber content of all planned congre
 ss activities\, and I am sure you will be stimulated by this meeting. On b
