She was also a clinical psychologi st and a researcher with the Behavioral Psychotherapy and Research Unit at the Jewish General Hospital (JGH) in Montreal.\n\nAt the JGH\, she collab orated with Eva Libman and Sally Bailes on research into sleep and insomni a. Their work reflected the essence of translational research — integratin g their research expertise directly into clinical care and teaching. Dr. F ichten  was the co-director of the Adaptech Research Network / RĂ©seau de R echerche Adaptech\, a bilingual\, multidisciplinary research team focused on higher education and disability. This network studies factors that cont ribute to the success of college and university students with disabilities \, with a focus on technologies. Notably\, Catherine developed a toolkit t o support students with disabilities during their clinical internships: ht tps://adaptech.org/internship-toolkit/ .\n\nCatherine engaged in internati onal research collaborations with scholars from Israel\, the UK\, the US\, Germany\, and Belgium\, and was actively involved in organizing academic conferences. She received several awards\, including the Canadian Psycholo gical Association Award for Distinguished Contributions to Public or Commu nity Service.\n\nShe published extensively in both English and French\, co llaborating with colleagues and students — producing 40 papers in the past four years alone\, while simultaneously holding over $7 million in resear ch grants from provincial and federal agencies.\n\nCatherine was a brillia nt researcher who made significant contributions not only to the field of psychology\, but also to adaptive technologies that support the success of students with disabilities\, and to the study of sleep medicine.\n\nHer i nsights and passionate dedication to her students were inspiring. Her care \, compassion\, and commitment to creating inclusive learning environments are an example for us all.
