Virus sequences can help us un derstand the emergence of new variants with new phenotypes\, track the vir us' geographical movements and\, at local levels\, can help us to understa nd local transmission. In this talk I will describe our work in using SARS -CoV-2 genomes to estimate serial intervals: the time between symptoms (or in some cases\, sample collection) in infector-infectee pairs. Serial int ervals are important because they underlie estimates of the reproductive n umber\, Rt\, which in turn is used to help understand the strength of tran smission and the impact of different levels of vaccine coverage. I will di scuss broader challenges and opportunities for the genomic surveillance of SARS-CoV-2.\n DTSTART:20220208T170000Z DTEND:20220208T180000Z LOCATION:CA\, QC SUMMARY:QLS Seminar Series - Caroline Colijn URL:/qls/channels/event/qls-seminar-series-caroline-co lijn-337163 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
