 n honor of the Department's founder\, this year's program will be a truly 
 unique event. For the first time\, the Visiting Professorship will be shar
 ed by two speakers:\n\nDr. Peter Masiakos\, a pediatric surgeon at the Mas
 sachusetts General Hospital and the Honorable Steven Baddour\, Esq.\, form
 er Massachusetts State Senator.\n\nDr. Masiakos\, who received some of his
  training in Canada\, has been a staunch advocate for gun control in the U
 nited States. His writings have been published in the New England Journal 
 of Medicine (attached)\, and his recent efforts on Capitol Hill have been 
 featured on CNN and other news outlets.  His work with Senator Baddour bro
 ught sensible legislation to Massachusetts. \n\nThe two guests will speak 
 about alliances between physicians and legislators that can bring advocacy
  to the forefront and result in major policy legislation. It will be a uni
 que presentation. \n\nThe morning will continue with an outstanding pediat
 ric trauma symposium to which all are invited (program attached)\n\nPlease
