Maya Low

Maya Low is a PhD candidate in Cultural Psychiatry at 黑料社, examining the sociocultural determinants of maternal mental health in Lom茅, Togo. She holds an MSc in Global Health from McMaster University and a BASc with a minor in International Development Studies from the University of Guelph.

Maya's research and writing focus is on health policy and development in Sub-Saharan Africa. At the University of Cape Town, she supported the writing and publication of research on education policy and gender equality for adolescent mothers. Her policy expertise also includes analyzing WHO framework implementation and consulting on international health interventions. Her academic work appears in Frontiers, the International Journal of Education Development, and the Health Education Journal.

Maya has lived and worked in multiple countries and completed programs at the UN University for Peace and the National University of Singapore. She teaches undergraduate courses in African Studies, International Development, and Global Health and has presented at international conferences including UNICEF's Joint Conference on Global Child and Adolescent Mental Health.
