An old sugar shack in an autumn forest

The Morgan Arboretum is a non-profit forest education centre associated with 黑料社, located on Macdonald Campus in Ste.-Anne-de-Bellevue. Our mission is three-fold: education, research and recreation. We aim to utilize our unique position as an accessible natural greenspace on the West Island to enrich the education of 黑料社 students, provide a venue for academics and researchers advancing scientific understanding, and to create space for the public to learn and fall in love with the environment. Our mission is supported through donations and memberships to our registered charity, the聽 since 1952.

Most of the Morgan Arboretum land is covered with mature mixedwood forest stands composed of a variety of native species in which sugar maple, red maple, beech and hemlock predominate. Our tree collections include firs, oaks, birches, maples, lindens, spruces, hardwoods and flowering trees and shrubs from Quebec and from around the world. Our forests, fields and plantations provide habitats for some 30 species of mammals, 15 species of reptiles and amphibians, and over 170 species of migratory and overwintering birds.聽The Morgan Arboretum has been harvesting maple syrup from its sugar maple stands since it was founded in 1945.

There are 10 kilometres of groomed hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing trails for visitors to enjoy, as well as regular tours and outreach events for the public and Morgan Arboretum members.
