About the speaker
Dr. Jean-S茅bastien Parent
Research Scientist, Ottawa Research and Development Centre, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada
Dr. Jean-S茅bastien Parent completed his undergrad and earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Universit茅 de Montr茅al. He then completed postdoctoral fellowships at INRA Versailles, and at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. In 2019, he joined Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) as a Research Scientist at the Ottawa Research and Development Centre and became an adjunct professor at Carleton University. He now leads a research team integrating molecular biology, genetics and epigenetics in projects aiming at supporting the Canadian agricultural sector. In particular, his research aims at improving plant adaptation and resilience as well as developing sustainable agricultural practices.
