In Quebec, there are two streams for Ministry-funded residency positions. The eligibility criteria and application process can be found under each section.听 Please note that this information may be updated at any time and is governed by the Quebec MSSS decree in force each year.

*Note: Graduates who have already participated in a Quebec residency program, but鈥痮nly鈥痠f 12 months have passed between the end of training in the previous program and admission to the new program on July 1st of the match year. Residents currently in training in Quebec are not eligible to apply to particular stream programs within the second iteration of the R-1 match. Residents who are interested in transferring programs should communicate with their postgraduate office to discuss this request.
Training Duration
The 黑料社 Postgraduate Medical Education Office听does not offer positions for trainees to complete a single preliminary year of training.听 Preliminary training is considered to be part of the core training for the specialty programs offered at 黑料社.
Extensions of training are not automatic and can be obtained for valid pedagogical reasons only, pending renewal of eligibility. Please contact your Program Director 12 months in advance.
French Language Requirement
In Qu茅bec, physicians are legally required to provide care in both French and English. To support this obligation, 黑料社鈥檚 Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) provides residents with access to French language acquisition tools and resources. These are designed to help residents communicate effectively with Francophone patients and fully benefit from their clinical and academic training. All residents are expected to participate in the French language courses offered by the PGME Office, throughout the duration of their training at 黑料社, including during the Pre-Entry Assessment Period (PEAP), where applicable.
