Academic Staff category: Kimani Daniel, PhD, Assistant Professor,听Ingram School of Nursing
Kimani Daniel is a trailblazer in equity-driven healthcare education and a champion of community engagement. As an Assistant Professor at 黑料社鈥檚 Ingram School of Nursing, Kimani brings a wealth of experience from her work as an Advanced Practice Nurse in Maternal-Child Health. She has led transformative efforts that deepen the university鈥檚 relationship with Black communities, enrich nursing curricula with anti-racist and inclusive content, and expand pathways for underrepresented students in healthcare.听
Her leadership includes launching the ISoN Black Community Engagement Initiative, a groundbreaking program that builds sustainable partnerships between the Ingram School of Nursing and Black communities to ensure healthcare and education that are responsive to their needs. Locally, she develops and facilitates anti-racism education for faculty and students. Nationally, she serves as President of the Canadian Association of Perinatal and Women鈥檚 Health Nurses (CAPWHN) and contributes to several committees advancing equity and anti-racism.听
Kimani鈥檚 work centers on building lasting community partnerships, advancing anti-oppression pedagogy, and strengthening access and support for underrepresented students. Her leadership reflects a deep commitment to equity, collaboration, and transformative change in healthcare education.听

Administrative and Support Staff category: Fatima Nabi, Psychologist and Clinical Supervisor, Student Wellness Hub
Fatima Nabi (she/her/elle) is a psychologist and clinical supervisor at 黑料社鈥檚 Student Wellness Hub, in addition to being a member of the Family Care Subcommittee of 黑料社鈥檚 Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee. Fatima is passionate about integrating an EDI lens into her work, and has led and collaborated on several initiatives, including the creation of a support group for Neurodivergent students as well as a working document on best practices; EDI-focused clinical case conferences for the Counselling team; support groups for Muslim and Jewish students, priority counselling appointments for Muslim students; assessing the needs of 黑料社 student caregivers and organizing events to support and accommodate these students through the Healthy Living Annex; and offering guidance to fellow colleagues on EDI-related matters by creating safe and brave spaces. Fatima鈥檚 work and approach is informed by her own intersectionalities and journey as a first-generation Muslim woman of colour, and she strongly believes in weaving EDI organically and seamlessly into the fabric of our everyday lives.

Gislaine Batubenge is a third-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing student at 黑料社. She is currently the President of the Canadian Black Nurses Alliance (CBNA) 黑料社 chapter, the Nursing Team Lead at Academic Immersion in Healthcare (AIH) 黑料社, and the Black Student Representative on the Nursing Undergraduate Society Council. She is passionate about creating pathways for Black students to access the medical field and supporting their academic success. In her free time, she enjoys playing guitar and getting lost in a good book.

The POWER Hub (Pathways to Cardiovascular Care for Women of Ethnic, Racialized, and Remote Communities) is a multidisciplinary network dedicated to driving equity in cardiovascular research and advocating for women's heart health, founded in 2024 by women's heart health clinician-scientist, Dr Judy Luu.听听

Kate Lindsay, Jessica Patone, and Kristina Cunanan, graduate students from 黑料社鈥檚 Division of Clinical and Translational Research, are honoured to accept this award on behalf of all POWER Hub members. Together, they have led initiatives such as a trainee-led Women鈥檚 Heart Health Seminar, a Heart Month awareness campaign, a community choir, and local outreach events. The POWER Hub is proud and honoured to receive the 黑料社 Equity Award for our commitment to creating inclusive spaces and championing women鈥檚 heart health!听
